Schuylkill River Dog Park

After a long period of development the new Schuylkill River Dog Park has opened at 25th and Spruce Streets in Philadelphia. The park was temporarily relocated while the new pedestrian bridge crossing the railroad tracks was constructed and extending the bike trail into the park. Located in the same spot as the old dog park, next to the community garden, the new park kept the iconic fire hydrant but added comfy new benches and paving bricks. The new design is thoughtfully completed with a doggie water fountain and running water to clean up before heading home.

The dogs love that there’s plenty of water to share and drink their fill. Running and playing with the other dogs really builds a thirst, on this hot late Summer day, the fountain was a popular spot for the pack to congregate. The brick pavers mean no more muddy dog paws!

Playing in the dog park is big fun and now with the artificial turf and brick paver surround dogs and toys don’t get so dirty. And if they do, during the warm months, the hose is there to clean up.

The architectural detail at Schuylkill River Dog Park with the long wavy wall allows everyone a seat to watch the dogs romp; the dogs love running along and jumping the wall. The new pedestrian bridge will open soon, the temporary park is being restored and the community garden is in full bloom, a contemporary dog park is the perfect spot to show off Fall fashion.
